A Jacobean manor with a rock and roll heart
Weston Hall is a beautiful 17th-century stone manor in the village of Weston, just outside Stafford. Four big gables, mullioned windows, a sweeping drive and gardens that, in spring, are full of white blossom. Inside there’s dark oak, chandeliers and a black and white checked dancefloor.
Laura and Darren’s day was a brilliant mix of classic and their own personality. Laura wore a sculptural off-the-shoulder gown, then swapped into a black leather jacket with “Till Death” stitched across the back. Their ceremony had a guitarist in a top hat playing live, and there was a “Love at First Bite” snack table and a giant sweet table for the guests.
It was relaxed, full of laughs and genuinely them, which is always my favourite kind of wedding to photograph.
Getting ready at the hall
Laura got ready in one of the hall’s beamed bedrooms, rollers in and prosecco in hand, with her dress hanging in the window. A little bundle of photo charms was waiting to go on her bouquet. Across the hall, Darren and the boys were straightening ties in the sunlight streaming through the old leaded windows.
Personal, playful and a bit gothic
Laura and Darren filled the day with little touches of their own: a “Ring Security” box, a top hat on the side table, a “Love at First Bite” snack basket, sweet jars and a pretty two-tier cake. The ceremony room was set with white chairs, an aisle of petals and lanterns.
Saying it, with a soundtrack
The ceremony was in the hall’s bright, chandelier-lit ceremony room, with a guitarist in a top hat playing them in and out. Lots of smiles, a big kiss and a cheer from the room. Then it was out to the front of the hall for confetti, heart-shaped sunglasses and a group photo with everyone.
Blossom and old stone
We had perfect timing with the blossom. We spent a while in the gardens beneath the white trees, against the old stone walls and on the drive with the hall behind us, with Laura switching into that leather jacket halfway through.
Smoke, sparklers and fairy lights
Cutting the cake by the leaded windows, a first dance in a cloud of dry ice on the checked dancefloor, then out into the dark for fairy-lit trees and a sparkler send-off in front of the glowing hall.

The leaded windows
Beautiful light for getting ready. Keep your room tidy near the windows and hang your dress there, and the morning photos will look lovely.

Room for confetti and a full group photo with the gables behind. Pop it on your list straight after the ceremony while everyone’s together.
The blossom trees
If your wedding is in spring, plan your couple portraits around the blossom. It doesn’t last long, but it’s stunning.
The long drive
A classic photo of the two of you with the whole hall behind. It only takes a couple of minutes.
The trees after dark
Wrapped in fairy lights, they’re perfect for a sparkler exit or a quick night-time portrait. Worth asking your venue coordinator about.
